No single API covers payroll worldwide. Payroll runs on hundreds of local providers, and many local providers deliver flat files, CSV or Excel exports instead of an API. datascalehr gives applications and AI agents one point of access to payroll data across 180 countries and 1,400+ live connectors.
Unified API vendors such as Merge and Finch focus mainly on reading HR data for downstream applications. Global payroll also needs data to flow from the HR system to the payroll provider and back, with country-specific validation in both directions.
datascalehr is a context layer rather than a unified API. A unified API normalizes field names. A context layer also keeps the meaning, so a German “Sozialversicherungsbeitrag” and a French “cotisation sociale” are both recognized as social security contributions with different statutory rules. The datascalehr MCP (Model Context Protocol) connector exposes the payroll engine as typed tools that AI agents can call.
