datascalehr receives investment from Acadian Ventures to double down on its global payroll API

Oct 25, 2024

Press release

datascalehr, the AI-native global payroll API, today announced that it has received an investment from Acadian Ventures, the premier early-stage venture capital firm in the HR tech industry. This follows datascalehr’s initial raise one year ago, which was led by DCM Ventures

Payroll integration has stubbornly remained highly complex and messy, and it demands a high level of precision. There are no consistent data formats, data quality from upstream sources is often inadequate, and each country and vendor does it differently. Integrations slow down implementations, are expensive to maintain, and pose a major support risk—until now.

Developed on the foundation of a pre-trained AI model based on proprietary machine learning algorithms and 30 years of global payroll expertise, datascalehr’s global payroll API allows providers of global payroll and Employer of Record (EOR) services to natively connect to and automatically reconcile any payroll and HR data source in the world.

Since emerging from stealth in 2023, datascalehr has onboarded some of the largest EORs and global payroll providers as clients. In the process, it has tripled the size of its team, and brought its clients 40x faster implementations and 10x more efficient payroll processing.

“Acadian is the most respected VC in HR Tech and has an amazing track record of successful investments, so we are thrilled to have them join us on our journey,” said Jerome Gouvernel, CEO and co-founder of datascalehr. “The additional funding will go toward expanding our customer success team to support the rising demand from global payroll providers, EORs, and HR software vendors looking to support their clients’ global payroll footprint.”

“We know how hard payroll integrations and interfaces are to get right. We have the scars. It’s a wicked problem,” said Thomas Otter, General Partner at Acadian Ventures. “Jerome and the datascalehr team know that, too, but they figured out a better way to attack it. They use AI in a novel way to completely rethink how to build integrations and payroll reconciliation. We believe datascalehr can solve the biggest problem payroll providers and their users face. It will change the industry.”
